Together, we are REFORMA de Florida! ¡Juntos!
Contribute your talents and ideas to make our Chapter the #1 source of resources for libraries serving Latinos and the Spanish-speaking in our state.
We have different opportunities for you. Which one will you choose?
1) Do you like being always up-to-date with the chapters’ activities? Do you want to network with other librarians serving in your area? Do you have ideas for local events? Become a Northern Region Delegate!
Regional Delegates help coordinate events for their regions, work with the Treasurer for their region’s fundraising/programs, and serve as part of the chapter’s Advisory Board.
Starting July 2026, our Central Region Delegate is Gaby Gomez, and our Southern Region Delegate is Ximena Valdivia. We have a vacancy for a Northern Region Delegate, so email us at reformafl@gmail.com if you live in the Northern Region and are interested in becoming its Delegate.
2) Do you like being the first to share exciting news? Are you on social media all the time? Are you creative and have fun ideas?
Become part of the Public Relations Committee!
The Chair and Committee members maintain the Chapter’s communications, including (but not limited to) our newsletter, social media, press releases, website, or any other ideas to help spread the word about our upcoming exciting opportunities.
From 2020-2026, our Newsletter Editor was Alma Ramos-McDermott. Starting July 2026, our Newsletter Editor is Gaby Gomez.
If interested in being a Newsletter Reporter, a Member of the Public Relations committee, or the Committee Chair, email us at reformafl@gmail.com.
3) Are you responsible, organized, and good with numbers? Do you enjoy financial planning or raising funds for good causes?
We would love for you to be part of the Finance Committee!
By putting your organizational skills to the service of library services for Latinos and the Spanish-Speaking, you’ll assist the Treasurer in keeping track of funds.
Apply to be a member of the Finance Committee at reformafl@gmail.com.
4) Do meeting and networking with new people bring you joy? Are you excited about sharing the benefits of being a REFORMista?
Apply to be part of the Membership Committee!
If you’re interested in growing our membership; have ideas for reaching librarians, students, and new members; or have been in many organizations with experience at welcoming others, this is the role for you.
The Membership Committee reaches out to new members, sends invitations, greetings, and reminders, and helps recruit a dynamic membership. Apply at reformafl@gmail.com.
Hard to decide? Volunteer for any position and let the Board find a spot for you. (We’ll also have ad-hoc committees for special opportunities.)
Please send an email to refomafl@gmail.com with the title “I want to make RedeFL thrive.” Please specify the positions to which you’re applying and add a paragraph with a short statement explaining what you could contribute. The Executive Board will review applications and the President will make appointments. Don’t be left out! We have room for everyone!
